More About Jen Campbell
Jen Campbell grew up along the front range and was a mover from her early days. She graduated from the University of CO in 1993 with a BA in Dance. While there, she discovered Pilates, which changed her dancing and her life. Jen graduated from The Pilates Center in Boulder, CO in 1993 and then moved to NYC to pursue dance and teaching. Over the decades since she’s been teaching, Jen has taught Pilates to all types of people, in Pilates studios, college campuses, dance studios, homes, parks, and more. Jen owned Stronger Self Fitness, the first Pilates studio in Bethesda, MD from 1998-2001. She then went on to sell the studio to The American Dance Institute, a non-profit dance organization based in Rockville, MD. She taught, managed, and worked at ADI for 7 years, where she developed her own comprehensive Pilates teacher training program, The Articulate Eye. Jen went on to train upwards of 25 teachers.
Jen truly believes in the healing power of movement. Pilates offers much more than the signs allude to— an inner strength that cannot be seen as a six-pack, confidence, and resiliency that comes from hard work and honest engagement. Jen is thrilled to be teaching at Studio 360 and works with all types of clients—those working through an injury or those simply looking to up and challenge their fitness. When Jen isn’t in the studio, you can find her dancing, hiking, skiing, and enjoying life with her hubby Jeff, son Lucas and 2 dogs Lucky and Jasper. I am passionate about teaching Pilates because…
It is such a privilege to witness and support people stepping into greater health, ease, and true wellness in their lives. I love the discovery process—watching the lightbulbs go off as people discover parts of themselves that they didn’t know existed. Ultimately, what we have is our body/mind—this incredible system that helps us find meaning, confidence, and joy in our lives.
Favorite Pilates Exercise is…
The Short Spine—it’s wonderfully stretchy, accessible, and fun.
Outside of Studio 360, Pilates supports my…
My dancing, joy, play, hiking, yoga, and everything really!
Pilates has transformed my life by…
Growing me into my life. It has been foundational in my work as a movement teacher that goes beyond pure movement. I’ve grown through Pilates into being a studio owner, studio manager, training program creator and lead teacher, daily movement teacher, and more. These were all arenas that encouraged (and sometimes forced) my growth as a person—in ways that I could never have predicted. Pilates is also a method that I continue to learn from even after 30 years of practicing it.
My spirit Pilates animal is…
A Jellyfish—ultra-fluid, sensitive, and full of ease. Also stingingly strong.
